Utah is a winning state!

Four Utah cities made Money Magazine’s 2012 “Best Places to Live.” Featured Utah cities included South Jordan (18), Sandy (51), Orem (56) and St. George (63). If you own a Utah home you already know what a great place this is to live! Here are some of the greater points of our state noted by the magazine.

South Jordan
Top 100 rank: 18
Population: 52,700

“South Jordan is one of the fastest-growing cities in Utah. Daybreak, a planned community, has drawn more residents to the area than any other new home community in the state. Locals take health seriously: When they’re not skiing or off-road biking in nearby mountains, residents take to the trails at Jordan River Parkway for jogging, horseback riding, fishing, and more. As with many parts of Utah, the area lacks diversity. But it also boasts the lowest divorce rate on our list: around 4%.” L.G.Money Magazine

Sandy
Top 100 rank: 51
Population: 96,700

“This Salt Lake City suburb, which sits under the towering Wasatch Mountains, has dubbed itself ‘the ultimate base camp.’ Easy to see why: It offers quick access to four world-class ski resorts, the 20,000-seat Rio Tinto Stadium, several shopping centers, and the Sandy Amphitheater. While many residents still commute to Salt Lake City for work, Sandy continues to attract businesses with its warm sense of welcome. Becton Dickinson Medical, E*Trade, and Comcast have all found a home here. Although houses aren’t outrageously priced, they are more expensive than in many other areas of the state.” L.G.Money Magazine

Orem
Top 100 rank: 56
Population: 93,300

“This Silicon Slopes town is a power player in the tech industry. Word Perfect and Novell were founded here decades ago, and today dozens of startups and venture capitalists hope to hit it big (Orem-based Omniture made $1.8 billion when Adobe acquired it in 2009). Orem has reason to call itself Family City U.S.A. Commutes are short, parks are plenty, and neighbors are friendly. Residents enjoy Summerfest (featuring a car show and a baby contest, among other events) and the annual Timpanogos storytelling festival.” L.G.Money Magazine

St. George
Top 100 rank: 63
Population: 74,800

“Set against the quiet backdrop of red canyon walls and the majestic mountains of Zion National Park, St. George is a mecca for action. It is home to the St. George Marathon (running on 37 years) and several premier golf courses. Tourism helps drive the economy, but so do a few key companies. Sky West Airlines is headquartered here, and the nationally recognized, 245-bed Dixie Regional Medical Center is one of the city’s largest employers. While there’s plenty of room to stretch your legs, there’s not much in the way of arts attractions, and watering holes are even more scarce.” L.G.Money Magazine
